Games ON

Recently I was delighted to find that Abraham Games had landed in a town near me....Bedford...Yes Bedford? I hear you ask why? Im sorry I dont have the answer. Anywho more to the point the exhibition was a collection of his most famous posters produced through his reign as who I see as one of the greatest graphic designers/ illustrators. After conversatons with museumereer (they must have real job titles sorry!) I found that this was all organised by his daughter and this humbled me further to beauty and personalised intamicy of the exhibition. Firstly the poster below caught my attention as I am currently pondring over the handmade/ homemade revival and thought that this should most definelty be re-produced!
It reads "Our jungle fighters want socks"....anything that encourages knitting I am all for! My fascination with Games is not only due to his numb humour in which he manages to challenge his talent it is also his persistance against photography...something which so many graphic designers repeatedly hide behind....

This was particularly one of my favourite posters in the museum due this little secret sketch sheet which accompanied the final piece....you can clearly see Games thought process and colour palette considerations...these where eventually posters produced for London transport and London tourist board....G-E-N-I-U-S

Also I fell in love with Games when it was noted that he hid names of his precious family in the majority of his work....a true gentlemen not afraid to show his passion to both his art and his family.
